What’s happening in your city this Easter?

Wondering what to do for the long weekend? Check out these egg-citing Easter-themed events and activities taking place around South Africa to keep you and the kids entertained.

Easter is just around the corner and we have got an egg-ceptional range of activities and events for you and the family to enjoy. Find out what’s happening in your neighbourhood here:

KwaZulu-Natal:

1. Easter Eggsplorer Egg Hunt:

Let out your inner egg-splorer skills with an exciting Easter egg hunt taking place at the Durban Botanic Gardens on 15 and 16 April 2017.

From the Butterfly Garden to Alien Ally, the Easter egg trail has a host of giant chocolate eggs and hidden treasures to be found.

The hunt will take place throughout the day and will be split into two categories:

  • Category 1: Between ages 1 - 3.
  • Category 2: Between ages 4 - 14.

Parents will be required to accompany all egg-splorers on the hunt to find the hidden treats, before heading to the Egg Redemption stands to claim their chocolate surprise and their Eggsplorer Certificate!

And the fun doesn’t stop there - at the event you can also enjoy the following activities on offer:

  • Easter cupcake decorating stand
  • Fun and games
  • Sand art
  • 3D ceramic painting
  • A bunny farm petting and education station
  • A number of exciting carnival games for the whole family
  • Face painting for kids
  • A meet and greet with the Easter Bunny and his friends

2. The Best of Country this Easter:

Head on down to the Rhumbelow Theatre on 15 and 16 April 2017 to enjoy a magical tour of some of the best country hits from the past and present, performed exclusively by recording artist and performer Gerhard Supra.

Sing along and dance the night away to songs of Don Williams, Neil Diamond, George Straight, Tim Mcgraw, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Waylon Jennings and many more.

There will be a fully licenced bar and braai facilities available, so be sure to arrive early to secure your braai spot for the evening.

The show dates and times are as follows:

  • Saturday 15 April 2017 - Show starts 20:00.
  • Sunday 16 April 2017 - Show starts 14:00.
  • Sunday 16 April 2017 - Show starts 18:30.

NB* The venue opens 90 minutes before the start of the show for picnics.

3. Mega Easter Hunt at Ushaka SeaWorld:

Fancy taking a tour of Ushaka’s marine life while on the hunt for some delicious chocolate? Head on down to Ushaka Marine World on 15 and 16 April 2017 for their egg-citing Easter hunt with over 100 000 marshmallow Beacon eggs to be found.

Each child entering the park will receive a goodie bag with an Easter treasure map comprising a number of exciting clues to help find the tasty treats on offer.

There will also be a host of other exciting activities for the little ones to participate in at the aquarium and uShaka Kids World, with a chance to win plenty more chocolate surprises.

NB* Tickets can be purchased in advance at uShaka Marine World online ticketing. For an additional R60 more you will receive entrance into Sea World and Wet ‘n Wild for the entire day.

Cape Town:

1. All Things Yummy and Easter Bunny Show:

Get into the Easter spirit with a chocolate, cake and candy extravaganza. The All Things Yummy & Easter Bunny Show will be taking place at CTICC between 8 and 9 April 2017. The show will feature a selection of chocolates, cakes and candy for all to explore and a variety of attractions to keep you and the family entertained.

From adventurous Easter hunts in store, to cupcake decorating classes and a meet and greet with a few of your favourite fluffy characters, the event promises to be a fun day out for the whole family.

2. Lourensford Easter Sunday Market:

Looking to get a little shopping done but also want to keep the kids entertained? The Lourensford Easter Sunday Market on 16 April 2017 is the place to be! Enjoy an array of fresh food and crafty art designs while hunting through the gardens to find your stash of Easter treats.

All kids at the Sunday market will receive three Easter chocolate surprises. There will also be face painting stands, a jumping castle and the chance to meet the Easter bunny. Your four-legged family members are also welcome, so bring your pets along and make it an egg-ceptional family affair.

3. Twelve Apostles Easter Sunday Buffet Lunch:

Wine and dine in style this Easter at the Twelve Apostles Hotel And Spa on Easter Sunday 16 April 2017. Hosted at the elegant Azure Restaurant and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the lunch promises a delightful buffet spread with all the Easter trimmings and live music to set the mood.

A lunch braai buffet will also be held on Easter Monday 17 April 2017 at the Azure Restaurant from R395 per person.

And to ensure the kids are entertained, there will be an Easter egg hunt, with plenty lawn games to participate in and lots of chocolate treats up for grabs.

1. In the Forest Easter Folk Market:

Take a magical forest tour of the Easter Folk Market on Saturday 15 April 2017.

Meander through the enchanted Faerie Trail and spot the little fairies on the mystical forest paths while indulging in some yummy food and drinks.

There will also be a host of craft stalls to browse through with unique hand-made products on offer. And to keep the kids entertained while you shop, there will be pony rides, tree-climbing, zip-lining and lots of Easter egg challenges to keep them on their toes!

Easter Sunday lunch doesn’t get any better than a sensational buffet at the Big Red Barn on 16 April 2017. The luncheon will offer an abundant gourmet feast paired with traditional Easter fare.

Patrons can also enjoy an afternoon of live music entertainment with the magnificent musos of Beukes & Delaney while the kids keep busy with a scavenger hunt to get their hands on a few chocolate treats.

3. Easter Family Fun Day:

Nt'Shonalanga Valley Resort will be hosting a spectacular Easter Family Fun Day on 15 and 16 April 2017.
