KZN North Coast is booming

The KZN North Coast has become a hub of property development, particularly its gated estates.

Umhlanga is one of the areas in the KZN North Coast where property development is at an all-time high. Gated estates are amongst the most popular areas where property development is occurring in Umhlanga, particularly over the last five years. Umhlanga offers the cosmopolitan, work-play-live lifestyle and appeals to many young professionals and families from both local buyers, and those commuting to Johannesburg for work. People are prepared to pay a premium for the estate lifestyle, and the benefits of this relaxed, beach lifestyle.

According to Carol Reynolds, Pam Golding Properties area manager for Durban Coastal, this activity is driven by a combination of factors. These factors include the need for secure living, convenient locations, lifestyle choices and long-term investment potential.

Luxury lifestyle in Sibaya

The development of areas surrounding Umhlanga has completely changed the landscape and offers residents a wide variety of lifestyle options. One such notable property development is the exclusive Signature Sibaya residential estate, north of Umhlanga. Made up of 45 stands, the units in this development will boast phenomenal sea views, top-notch security and an elegant lifestyle. Reynolds stated that this development will arguably be the best address in KZN. With plots sizes ranging from 1000-2000sqm and a floor area ratio of 50%, homes in this estate will be substantial, and go for R20 million to R30 million.

Idyllic living in Izinga Park

Situated just 20 km north of Durban, Izinga is a large part of the rapidly-growing KZN North Coast. This sought-after area is conveniently located near King Shaka International Airport, and fulfills a number of lifestyle needs for the discerning buyer. Security, breathtaking sea views and beautifully landscaped surroundings are just a few of the benefits of living in this estate. Homes will be selling for about R4 million to R6.9 million, with a range of home sizes available.

Seaside bliss in Ridgeside

Another exclusive development is in the pipeline for the Ridgeside precinct. Situated conveniently between La Lucia and Umhlanga, this neighbourhood is close to Gateway shopping centre, and La Lucia Mall, as well as various schools. This development will offer a combination of land only or plot and plan options.
