I love Umhlanga for it’s vibe and energy, the fact that it’s always well maintained and the lifestyle and cultural feel that it offers.
Whether you enjoy surfing, swimming, fishing or snorkelling, the Umhlanga beach has it all. For education and kid-friendly activities, the National Sharks Board is just a few minutes from the beach.
I find Umhlanga ideal as its so central and has so many amenities you have access to.
Umhlanga has a number of options for shopping including La Lucia Mall, The Square and Gateway Shopping Centre. The Gateway Shopping Centre offers a world-class shopping experience with almost 400 local and international retailers. The centre also has many entertainment options including cinemas, tenpin bowling, a skate park, the Wavehouse and more than 90 restaurants.
The Umhlanga Village, as it is commonly known, is the coastal strip from the lagoon in the North to Lagoon Drive in the south. This area buzzes with activity particularly at night. A number of popular bars and restaurants including The George, The Dutch, Remos and Little Havana can be found in the village.
The Umhlanga neighbourhood has a number of upmarket property options. Luxury apartments with spectacular views can be found on the beachfront. New developments with modern units have sprung up in the area , particularly around the Gateway Shopping Centre, Freestanding homes in the area come with premium pricing, particularly in the Mount Edgecombe Estate which has some of the most expensive property in the country.
