About the Boskruin area

For the past 19 years, Boskruin, north of Johannesburg has been home to Susana Rodgrigues who says the suburb’s location is unrivalled.

It’s the convenience of having everything on one’s doorstep with schools such as Rand Park Primary and Rand Park High nearby as well as Boskruin Village and Summerfield Shopping Centre located within the suburb.

She frequents Boskruin Village to buy her groceries or have a coffee at her favourite spot. There is also the Boskruin Community Centre located next to the Boskruin Tennis Club. The centre has its own library, bowling greens and play parks and hosts various social activities such as karate and zumba.

Karla Eleftheriou has lived in Boskruin for four years. Like Rodgrigues, Eleftheriou is perhaps one of the few lucky people in Johannesburg who has the luxury of walking from her home to her workplace at the Summerfields Shopping Centre. “Boskruin is a well-looked-after suburb with manicured gardens and some beautiful tree-lined streets.”

Apart from the leafy homes, community feel and friendliness of the suburb, it is home to the Boskruin Koppie, aptly described as one of the few remaining “green lungs” left in the northern part of the Johannesburg, according to the Boskruin Residents Association website.

A nature reserve in the middle of the city allows residents to escape the hustle and bustle of life.

Boskruin is a quiet, friendly suburb. I know a lot of people, and even the shops that I frequent they know me, and that is beautiful community feel for a suburb to have.
