Seeff’s unemployment Learnership program of 2017 a success paving the way towards transformation in Real Estate
In 2017 the Seeff Training academy received funding from Services SETA for an unemployment learnership programme where 36 previously disadvantaged individuals between 18 and 33 years of age, were given the opportunity to obtain qualifications and various skills in Real Estate before being deployed to Seeff’s offices over Gauteng.
Ronel Bornman, Seeff’s National HRD Manager, says that for this programme Seeff was assisted by Harambee, a youth employment accelerator and independent, non-profit social enterprise, who helped with the initial screening and recruitment process.
“Seeff is fully committed to transformation and this programme allowed unemployed applicants from a disadvantaged background with a Grade 12 certificate (with Mathematics as a subject) to apply for the learnership.
“Learners were selected based on a battery of assessments which allowed the Seeff training academy to benchmark their attitudes and behaviours against Seeff’s Achiever agents.
The learners commenced with the FETC: Real Estate NQF level 4 qualification in June 2017 and after completion they acquired various other soft skills and attended IT workshops before being deployed into the workplace”.
Bornman continues that these learners were placed at Seeff’s branches in Johannesburg South, Randburg, Boksburg and Johannesburg Central and the various Managing Directors of these branches have guided and mentored them along the way to equip them with all the necessary skills to follow a career in real estate.
Bornman concludes that she has received massive positive feedback from the principals and that some of the learners exceeded expectations to such an extent that they are now employed full time by Seeff.
Bornman concludes by saying that they are hoping for more full time employments by the Seeff offices after March this year.
