On Thursday 5 October 2017 Win A Home fans can catch interior designer and architect, Jonathan Anstey MD of Anstey Architects as he makes an appearance as a guest judge for the kitchen reveal challenge.
The popular television series Win A Home is South Africa’s favourite interior design reality show. Cast and crew are currently on location at the luxury Eye of Africa Golf and Residential Estate, host to this year’s competition which gives young interior designers an opportunity to design a home, room by room, in the hopes of winning a R100 000 cash prize.
Jonathan has been in the architectural industry for over two decades. His career/ experience began the old-fashioned way, as artisan he used his craftmanship in plumbing, welding, brick-laying, glazing and roofing.
He draws inspiration from nature, forests and waterfalls, he is passionate about creating memorable moments and beautiful things through his love of art and photography.
Jonathan has designed numerous projects throughout his career; schools, hospitals, office parks, airports, convention centres, shopping malls, housing estates, game lodges, hotels, industrial and factory buildings and even waste management strategies for recycling plants.
The architect’s portfolio includes the design of the St Regis Hotel and Resort in Mauritius and no stranger to supporting competition opportunities for young designers, Jonathan he is a founding member of the Caesarstone Student Design Competition and a regular adjudicator on the panel.
He will be in the judge’s seat again as he joins Win A Home season four judges; Donald Nxumalo (DNX Design Studio) and Katlego Kondlo (Plascon) on set at Eye of Africa to assess the Design Duos’ kitchen reveals.
Jonathan offers the following words of wisdom to the contestants: “Unique and inspired design can only be achieved through closing your eyes to trend, your ears to fashion and your heart to fear...”
