Founded in 2006, Discovery Junction Pre-School accommodates approximately 80 children between the ages of two and five years old. Children are divided into five classes, with an average of 16 children per class, ensuring that each child receives the attention he or she needs to develop at their best. This is achieved through the dedication of staff who allow for paramount attention to be paid to the physical, social, cognitive and emotional development of every learner. Every teacher is qualified, experienced and trained in first aid; giving parents peace of mind that their children are in capable and caring hands.
The internal workings of Discovery Junction Pre-School are geared towards thorough assessment of the children’s progress within the school. Weekly meetings are arranged between teachers and the principal to discuss progress, development and any concerns that may arise. This efficient system addresses all children’s needs and assures parents of due diligence within the school. Assessments are conducted on an on-going basis, and Discovery Junction welcomes parents to discuss their child’s development at any time. Parent/teacher meetings are scheduled into the school calendar, and written progress reports are sent out twice a year. Auditory and visual screenings are also on offer to all children over the age of three years old.
At Discovery Junction Pre-School, children flourish through routine. Weekly themes are followed, and the school programme covers all of the developmental areas to ensure comprehensive growth. This includes values, and the school is proud of its ethos, which develops good manners and helps all children to mature into respectable members of society. Service to others is rewarded weekly within the school, and helps to develop a sense of responsibility towards others.
Children participate in the weekly “Mind and Movement” and “Kids in Action” programmes, which focus on holistic development, and gross motor skills and ball skills respectively. These are also integrated within the classroom in order to fine tune different elements of the programmes on a weekly basis. The school curriculum is further complemented through weekly library day, baking days, puzzles and games; and the school is well-equipped to ensure that the children get the best of these services. Outings are arranged each term, which are educational, fun and engaging for the children. In addition to this, various educational shows come to the school during the year.
Aftercare and extra-mural activities are on offer at Discovery Junction Pre-School, and the SuperStar Swimming School takes place in the school’s own enclosed, heated swimming pool. All children get served a hot, healthy lunch each day to ensure that they perform at their best during the course of the formal school day, as well as during the after hours’ activities.
