3 Bed House in Salt River

3 1
Available From: 01 Nov 2024

***THIS IS A ROOM IN HOUSE AT THE ADVERTISED PRICE, NOT A WHOLE HOUSE***

House-share in spacious 3-bedroom early 1900s house - one of three bedrooms available from 1 November 2024 (flexible) in Salt River / Observatory, Cape Town - R6,950pm

• The house:

- Spacious three-bedroomed house built in 1905 on the Observatory side of Salt River. Has high ceilings and white walls and floors = very light and airy.

- Shared with 2 others (Nina and Fen).

- Very lovely community part of Salt River with kids frequently playing soccer on the street. Great neighbours!

- House is furnished (but there is lots of space if needed to make things work if you have furniture). Also has a very well-kitted-out kitchen with a gas stove, washing machine, dishwasher, and lots of other niceties. And a UPS!

- Two lounge / living rooms: a large lounge craft room and a separate medium dining / living room.

- Protected courtyard with laundry line, a big table with benches, and lots of space for plants (mine are currently in the ICU).

- Mountain view of Devil’s Peak from the passage.

- One bathroom with a walk-in shower.

- Street parking only, but there's always tons of parking available, and a security camera covering the front of the house.

- Close to the train station and the following MyCiti stops: Kent, Biscuit Mill, Spencer, Salt River Hall, and Upper Salt River.

• Your room -

- Partially furnished (but the option is there for fully furnished or unfurnished).

- Wooden floors, high ceiling.

- R6,950 p/month rent.

- R10,425 deposit (1.5 months)

- Has a clothing rail, one to two shelving units, a queen bed, and the option of a desk and a set of drawers among other things.

• Further rental details:

- Additional costs / bills (electricity, water, fibre internet, weekly cleaning, monthly gardening, alarm with armed response, recycling collection, supply of firewood, shared goods, etc., etc.) come to ± R2,000 p/person p/month (depending on what we decide to split).

- Occupation available 1 November 2024 (flexible start date if necessary).

- Flexible lease up to the end of October 2025 (option to renew thereafter).

- 1.5 months deposit

- References will be needed, as well as 3 month's bank statements (for the landlord).

• Preferably, we're looking for someone who is:

- Neat, responsible, has lived with non-family before, and is well house-trained;

- Reasonably sociable (happy to have friends pop by, etc.) – we won’t live on top of each other or do everything together, but the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and we’d like to maintain that :D ;

- Accepting and respectful of different gender identities, relationships and lifestyles, and queer-friendly;

- Cat-friendly: we have 1 adorable, tiny, old-lady cat named Mrs Frank, and the occasional visiting cockatiel, so we’d love the candidate to like animals. (The house is technically pet-friendly for small pets, but this is dependent on the pet and how they might get along with the madame of the house, as well as subject to permission we'd need to request from the landlord.)

• A bit about Nina:

- Nina, 35, doer of all things-ish, works mostly from home.

- Makes the people and the computers talk to each other in a way that doesn't make the people sad.

- Working in the psychedelic space advocating for Psychedelic Therapy and well-being worldwide.

- Growing an analog visual dynamic art school for visually and creatively excitable GrownUps.

- Is also an occasional boutique event creator.

- Likes making things, arts, the moon, bringing people together around food, baking, reading, Burns, being in forests, working on all kinds of projects, and seeing the peoples.
