The Rooihuiskraal Historical Terrain and Animal Farm are located in Rooihuiskraal Road just north of the N14. This site was declared a national monument in 1981. The original farmstead dates back to the 1880s. It was the location of two battles during the Anglo-Boer war. One of the crucial battles of the First Anglo Boer War, the Battle of Rooihuiskraal took place here when Boer forces hid behind the stone walls of the farms kraal and defeated the British troops who were retreating from Pretoria via Rooihuiskraal.
