Nestled in the Valley of a Thousand Hills, Hillcrest has a slightly cooler and less humid climate than other parts of Durban. Built amongst rolling hills, houses have magnificent views of the valley and lush, surrounding hills. Just 30 minutes from Durban city centre, Hillcrest is away from the hustle and bustle. Hillcrest is home to many outdoor festivals and markets, enjoy these and more outdoor activities at places like Makaranga Lodge. Piggly Wiggly in Kloof is located at the Robyndale Centre and offers delectable café food including farm style meals with fresh bread and cakes baked on the premises daily. Treat Café at Talloula is located in Botha’s Hill. It is the meeting spot of choice for a delicious cup of coffee, a tasty lunch with friends or family, or a long afternoon of indulging in sweet treats.
This area has a country feel to it, with a close community that include South African celebrities such as Shaun Pollock and Megan Coleman. Kloof Country Club has been designed to test the most talented of golfers and provide a real sense of achievement to the lesser experienced too. Monteseel Rock Climbing Routes is considered one of the oldest places to rock climb in the province. Many of the routes fall into the easy grade, making it optimal for beginners and children.
Enjoy a quaint shopping experience at the Heritage Market, with bigger malls like the Watercrest mall just a few kilometres away. The 1000 Hills Arts & Crafts Village is situated in the popular and incredibly scenic Valley of 1000 Hills. The Village offers restaurants, a spa, children’s play area, animal farmyard, lovely little shops, a pub and more.
