380 ha Farm in Swellendam

Situated on the foothills of the majestic Langeberg Mountains on the rainy side of the mountain range, between Ashton and Swellendam in the Western Cape, you will find this gem.

The opportunities are abundant, really the full spectrum of country living - including running your own restaurant (or rent it out), overnight accommodation cottage/s, making your own wine and providing your own produce on any scale you are comfortable with. Even a micro-brewery is already in operation distilling Gin etc., and newly planted Cactus Pears will provide the first harvest soon.

A neat three bedroom, one bathroom, open plan kitchen, lounge and dining-room with indoor fire place was built in 1998 and recently renovated.

Mountain Cottage: (120SQM)

A beautifully located two bedroom, two bathroom, open plan kitchen, dining-room and lounge. Vine draped front veranda above a mountain stream fed pool overlooks the majestic Langeberg mountains. The back veranda faces a cape fynbos hillside, and with its fireplace it makes a perfect protected braai area. The cottage is completely self-sufficient with regards to power supply. Water is heated via a solar geyser and solar panels supply electricity for the rest of the cottage. The mountain cottage has become a popular AirBnB destination.

Labourers Cottages:

There are 5 labourers cottages on the farm. They are all fitted with electricity and inside bathrooms.

Old Workshop Shed:

Houses all the farm implements. It also serves as undercover storage for all the farm vehicles e.g. tractors, spray pumps and trailers.

New Shed: (340SQM)

This new shed is vacant at the moment. So it can be utilized for any new project you have in mind. Indoor grow room, seed processing, chicken breeding etc.

Restaurant Shed: (540SQM) Greenlands Farm Table

The 40 seated Farm Restaurant houses a fully equipped kitchen, micro winery including all wine making equipment and a small shop.

The restaurant has been operational for three years, only open for lunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and serving good healthy farm-to-table meals. The restaurant makes small amounts of wine (grapes harvested from the farm) which is served in the restaurant. The restaurant produces delicious ice cream which is a big hit with the patrons and outside suppliers. Gin is distilled in a small micro-brewery.

There are two massive storage dams which are filled by rain water from the vast catchment area, during the rainy season. Situated in a high rainfall area! The house hold water is shared water (2 days in every 8 days) from a crystal clear mountain spring. The pump house and extensive irrigation systems supply life-giving water, more than enough for current needs. All water sources are registered with the authorities.

The farm has 18Ha of Wine Grapes, producing an average of 150 Tons of Grapes and they brag with noble varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Chardonnay, Mourvedre , Grenache, Viognier and Colombar. Not to mention the latest varieties of Cactus Pears (Prickly Pears with-out thorns) which can be used as cattle feed. More than 5Ha cleared for animal pastures.

Most of the land consists of wild Cape natural fynbos. Excellent deep alluvial soils are good for cash crops, vegetables, seed production, fruit and nut trees etc. Included in the sale is an undivided quarter share of the mountain on the east side of the farm.

Go-Green or go home! The farms electricity is supplied by a 50 KVA solar system sufficient electricity for the current usage, the way to the future of self-sufficiency.
