The Farm:

The farm is situated on the Van Der Stel Pass that runs between the Theewaterskloof Dam and the town of Botrivier. Effectively part of the scenic Overberg, it is a farming area that historically has benefitted from a stable weather pattern. Sufficient winter rains backed by snowmelt from neighbouring mountain tops along with largely frost-free farming terrain, plus long dry summers cooled by breezes coming off the Ocean. The farm is close to several stable agricultural towns, Grabouw, Villiersdorp and Franschhoek, while Hermanus, Somerset West and Stellenbosch are within driving distance and Cape Town International Airport and Cape Town City are less than 2 hours away. Welgemoed is a member of the Groenland Conservancy, this is a large well-

established conservation area. The farm is well located for commercial purposes. It is equally a place of beauty that marries a sense of the Cape with a feel of the African bush.

The Terrain:

The farm has both a mature agricultural area as well as a genuine bush. While much of the farms activities take place in the area where the valley flattens out, there are considerable undulations and the sea can be seen from parts of the farm. Welgemoed benefits in summer months from a cooling sea breeze late in the day. However because of its valley setting the summer and winter storms by and largepass overhead. Furthermore, the orchards lie below the hail and frost line. There is wildlife in abundance. Rooikat, leopard, honey badgers, wild pig, various mongooses, and buck including reebok and klipspringer.
