Lemon and macadamia nut farm. Location:
The farm is located approximately eleven kilometres from Barberton and five kilometres from the R38 to eManzana (Badplaas).
The Suid Kaap River forms the northern border of the farm. The western border is a natural stream running roughly from south to north. The farm is surrounded by other commercial farms.
The farm is somewhat rectangular in shape, sloping from east to west and south to north. Approximately fifty hectares are planted to permanent crops, with sufficient water for irrigation.
Water allocation:
The Suid Kaap River is the main source of irrigation water. The allocation on the Suid Kaap River is 264 000 m per annum. A pump installation at the dam serves as backup. Orchards are irrigated with a permanent micro spray irrigation system.
Water for domestic use is from a borehole delivery 5 000 l/h.
Lemon orchard:
The lemons cover an area of twenty-eight hectares, varieties being Limoneira and Eureka. Tree ages vary from four to twenty-four years old.
Navel orchard:
The block of Witkrans navels is two years old, extent two comma five hectares.
Macadamia orchard:
The Barberton Valley has become a major macadamia nut production area in recent years.
There are three blocks of nuts, ranging from two to nine years old. Varieties include Beaumont, A4 and 816, covering an area of thirteen hectares.
The two lane dehusking unit has a capacity of one ton per hour.
Building improvements:
Building improvements include two houses, garages, storage, shed, workshop, staff accommodation, pumphouses, an undercover cattle crush and dip, a dam and more.
