Some estates even provide schools on-site, and the leisure amenities encompass a host of features with the accent in newer estates on a broader lifestyle offering, including gyms and other sports facilities as well as shopping complexes.
These estates are often in metropolitan areas, including new metro growth nodes where the cities or towns are expanding, just like in the Eastern Cape.
According to a recent Quarterly Labour Force Survey, agriculture, renewable energy and the automotive sector are significant drivers of the Eastern Cape economy, with the province recording an employment increase of 20 000 jobs over the fourth quarter of 2022.
