As the Design Duos embark on decorating the master bedroom, some find that making big bedroom decision are a nightmare while others are hoping their designs are the stuff of dreams.
At Plascon Spaces, Danilo revealed to the Design Duos that their next challenge is designing the master bedroom. At their mentor meeting, Team VISI present a very bold design with big statements and they are determined to grab attention in this challenge.
Team Habitat enjoyed a moment of celebration with their mentor, Amanda, and are now focused with confidence to build on the lessons learnt from their previous challenge win. However, Team House and Leisure are a bit uncertain and their mentor, Tiaan, suggests they play with scale and proportion to create impact.
The design duos head to Decorex Joburg and 100% Design South Africa for some more inspiration. Claire Bond from Plascon shares the 2018 colour forecast, explaining where the inspiration and colour palette designs come from.
At the Caesarstone stand, the design duos learn about the exciting design collaborations Caesarstone has undertaken with local designers and meet some of the minds behind the exciting project. The visit to the exhibition was also a chance for the design duos to meet fans of Win A Home, who were excited to chat about the designs and take photos with their favourite design duos.
But, work on the bedrooms can't wait. Team House and Leisure embark on a creative collaboration with Joe Paine for customised bedside tables and mirrors.
Team VISI are also collaborating with furniture designer Mpho Vackier for bedside tables inspired by one of her signature pieces.
To ensure their master bedrooms roars with luxury, Team Habitat entrust reams of fabric to the ladies of Leratong Skills Centre where it will be transformed into curtains, pillows and a plush throw for the bed.
At the halfway mark, Team Habitat were oddly missing from their space but this duo has certainly turned over a new leaf with work moving along swiftly and their "Lion's Den" master bedroom getting unique touches with a statement wallpaper, geometric shapes in neutral shades by Plascon and Caesarstone pillars.
Although their carpet was installed, Team House and Leisure made slow progress. Paint work delayed the process and Tshepo revealed his worry at not completing the room in time with many little tasks to be done.
For Team VISI, their design has become a conundrum. With the bed assembled, wallpaper up and curtain hanging, they realise that there might be too many strong elements and the design could be visually tiring. Mpho and Lesego have to make big decisions and they choose to stick with their original design, including a very busy leaf print wallpaper.
Because every master bedroom needs a comfortable bed, a delivery by Sealy is cause for celebration. Team Habitat relish in the moment to have some fun but, while they are smiling for now, the competition goes on and it's fair game to see if Team Habitat or Team House and Leisure will get another win or if Team VISI will finally be jumping for joy.
