The team travels to Cape Town to meet the homeowners, a couple with two boys. The children are growing up and the family need to sell their home in order to buy a larger house closer to schools.
The renovation begins
Master builder Kevin and interior designer Lara realise that the small and impractical kitchen needs work. They will need to improve the flow and add storage in the scullery. In keeping with the antique style of the property, they decide to repaint the cupboard doors in the kitchen, add extra cupboard space in the scullery and to repaint the 3 areas. Timber man Callie, decides to install floating shelves in the kitchen to provide much-needed storage space.
New splash-back tiles and a new kitchen sink are also installed. Other chipped tiles get a face lift with a wooden finish that hides the flaws and modernizes the look of kitchen.
Day two brings drama with home owner Kornelis unhappy with the bold choices of colour in the kitchen. Lara explains that she chose to go with black trimmings and to paint portions of the ceiling black.
Henck takes Kornelis to the McLaren dealership in the Waterfront in an attempt to show Kornelis that bold isn't always bad. Together they cruise the streets of Cape Town and Henck convinces Kornelis to give the bold choice a chance.
The property is sold
After the work is completed, real estate agent Wynand van Wyk from RealNET Prestige, surprises the family with an offer to purchase for the amount the property is listed.
Kornelis admits that he was wrong to doubt the colour choices and is glad that he didn't insist that everything be repainted.
The family can now look forward to their move.
Everybody is delighted with another successful renovation that ended in a large SOLD sign!
