An Alberton family shock the Vat Jou Goed en Trek team by leaving the entire renovation in their hands while they go off on holiday. Will they be pleased with the results?
The team is in Alberton where Henck meets Allison and Vincent De Hoogde.
Vincent bought the property a few years ago at an auction and attempted the renovation process on his own. After meeting Allison, the renovation was put on the back-burner and never completed. When Henck meets the family he is shocked to learn that they are leaving the entire renovation in his hands while they go off to PE for a little vacation.
Never in the history of "Vat jou goed en trek!" has a family left the entire renovation in the hands of the team. The family says that they love the show and that they have full faith in Henck and his team.
Henck waves goodbye as the family head off.
Henck calls in the help of property expert Sanet Pawson from RE/MAX All Stars.
Immediately the team walk through the property to evaluate the house and see what changes can be made.
Henck indicates that he does not like the wood kitchen and would like to see it be more modern.
The dinning room is very small compared to the rest of the property. Kevin indicates that he can break open a part of the wall to let more light in and also give the illusion of the room being bigger.
They move into the living room where the brick feature wall makes the property feel dated.
By using decorative ceiling plates Kevin informs the team that he has got a clever plan. He will stick it onto the wall and paint over it to modernize the look and feel of the room.
It is also discovered that the ceiling is a problem which Kevin feels confident that he can fix.
The renovations start and everybody is busy with work. Henck asks Lara what her plan is with the interior of the property seeing as she did not meet the family. She says that her plan is based around what she can gather from the family by looking at her surroundings. Henck does not agree with her choice in the living room furniture but says that he trusts her to make the right decision.
Henck checks in with Wilma in the kitchen, she tells him that she is planning to white-wash the kitchen cupboards since it will definitely modernize the look of the kitchen. Henck leaves it in Wilma's hands and pops over to Kyle from Plantinfo.
He decides to redo the garden by the pool. He tells Henck that he wanted to bring a fun and colourful vibe in by choosing fresh and colourful flowers and plants.
Sanet arrives at the property and is very unhappy with the ceiling plates that are getting attached to the face-brick feature wall. A heated argument erupts between her and Lara resulting in Sanet walking away from the conversation.
After the break Sanet says in her diary that she secretly loved the wall after seeing the final product. She vows to keep Henck in suspense and not to tell him about her change of heart.
Allison and Vincent arrives back from their PE break away and are ready to see what the team did with the renovations.
They start in the living room and are blown away with the work done. The walls are painted the feature wall looks amazing, the ceiling has been restored and painted and the furniture is the perfect choice for the space.
They move over to the dining area. The one wall has been knocked open, giving the room a bigger feel. The walls have been painted and down lights have been installed in the ceiling. The family can not believe that it is the home they left 72 hours ago.
In the kitchen the are lost for words when they see the white-washed kitchen cupboards. Extra lights have been installed and the kitchen looks amazing.
Outside they see what Kyle did with their garden. He added beautiful plants and painted the outside walls.
Sanet pulls the family aside and informs them of how she has determined the value of the property. By using the Private Property website she looked at market trends in the area and for how much similar properties have gone for in the area. This provided her with a factual basis to determine the price of the house.
To end the episode on a high note Sanet shows the family the reaction of potential buyers and it seems like they will get an offer form one of the buyers.
The family thanks Henck and the team and says they made the right decision in trusting the team.
