This week the team travel to Randpark to help a family sell their home, which they have lived in for many years.
When they bought the land, there were no houses around them and over the years they have seen the area undergo a lot of development.
The property has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a large kitchen but is horribly outdated.
Work begins
Estate agent, Rob Pound from Property.co.za, suggests that the team take down a wall between the kitchen and dining room to make it more open plan. The living room needs new flooring and the walls need to be painted. Construction expert Kevin suggests wooden floors as the rest of the house is tiled, and by using different floor tiles throughout a house you actually devalue the property.
Work begins on what is the largest renovation that the team has ever undertaken.
The entire kitchen is removed and replaced and the wall between the kitchen and dining room is taken down. The old kitchen units are donated to the SPCA in Randburg. Callie and Kevin install a kitchen island between the kitchen and dining room. Henck calls in Chris from Floors Direct to install new wooden flooring.
The big reveal
After 2 days of hard work, it is time for the big reveal In the living room, the old carpets have been replaced with a new linoleum wood finish floor. It is extremely durable and makes the area more modern. They repainted and refurnished the area and painted the old outdated fireplace that use to be an eyesore.
In the dining room, they have broken down the wall to the kitchen to create an open plan area. An entire new kitchen was installed and both rooms got a fresh coat of paint. The house looks more modern and will be much easier to sell.
After showing the family the reaction of potential buyers, it looks like Rob won’t have much trouble selling the newly renovated house.
