In this episode, the team help Johan, who has lost his wife, sell their family home and move on.
The team completes the Cape Town leg of their tour at Johan's property in Belville.
Johan has raised his family in his 3-bedroom house with his wife who passed away in May. He feels that there are too many memories in the house and wants to move.
On arrival, the team finds nothing wrong with the property except for the outdated kitchen.
They decide to retile the floor and Timber man, Callie, takes down some kitchen cupboards to make space for new ones that he installs.
Interior designer, Lara, decides to go for a blue, grey and white colour scheme in the kitchen and asks construction expert, Kevin it is possible to remove a random wall in the middle of the kitchen that hides the washing machine and makes the kitchen appear smaller.
Since they will be retiling Kevin agrees to knock down the wall in order to create a more “open” feel.
Lara decides to take Johan to the flower market where they pick out the most beautiful yellow flowers in memory of his late wife, since yellow was her favourite colour.
Back at home, the team are busy on the renovation.
Property expert Lucas van Vuuren from LRE GROUP, pops by to check in on the work and starts planning his open house.
With everything set Lucas feels confident that selling the property won’t be very difficult.
The big reveal The time arrives for Henck to show Johan exactly what they have done in the kitchen. The blindfold comes off and Johan is blown away.
The kitchen ceiling has been replaced and down lights have been installed for extra light and to give it a more modern appearance.
New cornices add a touch of glamour and the walls have been repainted.
The kitchen cupboards are also painted in grey with white and blue detail on the door handles.
Extra storage space has been added and the floors have been retiled.
With the wall in the kitchen removed, the area looks bigger and provides an open-plan look.
Lucas shows Johan the reaction of potential buyers and the prospect of getting an offer looks good.
The team heads to Durban for next week’s episode.
