In this week’s episode of Vat Jou Goed en Trek, the team helps a couple sell their Cape Town home so they can move back to Gauteng.
Henck and the team, along with estate agent Wynand Van Wyk of RealNet Prestige, visit retired couple Pine and Coleen who are looking at selling their Cape Town property of 10 years in order to move closer to their grandchildren in Gauteng.
The property walkthrough Coleen designs wedding gowns part-time and has turned her living room into a studio. The dresses put potential buyers off when they enter the house and this is a problem that needs immediate attention. Construction expert, Kevin is also unimpressed with the dining room and its dark wood ceilings. He suggests painting them and bringing in extra down lights to brighten up the room.
Work begins
With the walkthrough done the team embarks on their various jobs. Interior designer, Lara asks timber man, Callie, if he can make her a wooden headboard for the fireplace. Her plan is to paint the board blue and gold since she is planning a blue feature wall.
Kevin installs a light box with 4 down lights in the living room to bring out the blue of the feature wall.
The other walls are painted off-white and the dark wood ceiling are boarded up and painted white with extra down lights.
In the dining room, the team paints the walls the same off-white colour as the living room and installs a light feature box directly above the dining room table to add more light to the room.
The brown ceilings are also modernised with white boards and down lights are installed to repeat what was done in the living room.
The big reveal
With the final installation of furniture done, the team shows Pine and Coleen what they have done.
The family loves the renovation and Coleen promises not to use her living room as a studio again.
With the fire burning in the fire place and a happy client the team congratulates each other and gets ready to head to yet another property in Cape Town.
