The contestants barely recovered from their bathroom challenge and are moving onto the next. Stefan Antoni from ARRCC briefed the contestants on the master bedroom.

“The first thing you have to look at is the position of the bed. That will make you think about have you got space for the side table, can you fit in a couch somewhere, would you watch TV from the bed? Then there are other practical things like how do you dress in a bedroom?"

The designers will have to think about their wardrobe solutions, taking into consideration the whole space. Usually bedrooms have carpets, but they can have tiles and Stefan suggests just adding a loose carpet to bring in softness.

Lighting is also very important, not too bright, and in the right areas. Stefan mentions a balance between romantic and functional lighting. The contestants will have to be creative when it comes to covering the windows. We’ll have to wait and see who will go for curtains or blinds!

Minenhle has a projected budget of R89 500, planning to spend the biggest amount on his built in cupboards. Juané has quite a conservative budget projection at R45 500. Rudolph has a massive projected budget of R135 000, expecting to spend R42 000 on the furniture alone.
