Sandton City in Johannesburg was a hive of activity from 27-28 August 2022 when people from all walks of life converged at the Sandton convention centre to attend the sought-after Property Show.
Set up to dispel misconceptions and fears around property, the Property Show attracted business executives and youthful and elderly property investors. All were keen to learn everything about the property market regarding viewing and getting bond approval, moving in, owning, renting, selling, investing in property, navigating the property journey with ease and expanding property investment.
Scheduled to start at 10:00, by 9:00, attendees were already making their way to the well-organised auditorium, which had different areas partitioned for specific purposes, such as First-time Home Buyers Boulevard, Investment Avenue, Sellers Street and Renters Road. There were also variety of service providers in the food court to cater for visitors. The indoor park and play area had attendees with children beaming excitedly and seizing every opportunity to take photos and engage in interactive social activities like painting.
Leading business brands who were sponsors of the Property Show; Absa, Vuma, Prosperity Enterprises, Capitec bank, TUHF and SA Property investors network, all had stands which were buzzing with attendees ready to soak in as much info as possible from courteous and knowledgeable representatives.
First to hit the podium at Investment Avenue was Ewan Rourke, who is a serial entrepreneur and business strategist who provided in-depth insights and statistics on the property market dynamics, such as demand and supply and other key related aspects.
“It is important to know the state of the property market. For example, most people are not aware that women are now playing a dominant role in the sector. It’s also worth knowing that Gauteng, KZN and Cape Town currently hold the most residential property, which can be attributed to metropolitan migration. Banks have also continued to play an integral role with about 60% of properties sold in the country being financed by them”, highlighted Jaco.
Jaco Grobbelaar, an international speaker, investment structuring and property investor, addressed attendees on how to structure a property investment portfolio.
“When it comes to property investment and property portfolios, you need to focus on opportunities which are the present and the future and not on the past. It requires a new mindset to get new results.”
“Structuring a property portfolio provides the foundation for property investment. Structuring your portfolio allows you to free up much-needed capital. You also need to seriously consider putting your property in trust because a trust ringfences your investment and provides vital asset protection,” elaborated Ewan.
The Property Show was very impactful and validated the excitement and success this event has recorded in different parts of the country.
“This event is generally an eye opener for me. I’m a media expert who deals with property-related content, so to come out and see the excitement and the massive interest property matters have is good to see. I got to see diverse demographics of property investors and enthusiasts coming together to learn as much as possible about all things property, gain valuable insights and connect with industry experts and identify available investment opportunities. It’s definitely an event people who are serious and keen to make money and secure their future through property must attend,” said Patrick Mumbi, a content specialist from Hive Digital Media.
