Kitchen Colours and Trends for your Home

The colours and décor you choose for your kitchen will enhance the lives of everyone in your home.

The kitchen is not only one of the most valuable spaces in your home, it is also the heart of the home. Most kitchens are a place to get creative and enjoy the company of friends and family. The latest kitchens are functional, clutter free, well lit and colourful. The colours, lighting and furnishings will set the atmosphere and turn it into a space that enhances the style of the home and the lives of the people living in it. Here are some kitchen colours and trends to consider when re-doing your kitchen.

Neutral Colours

Neutrals remain the most popular colours for the kitchen. This is the safe choice especially when it comes to the cabinets and flooring. Walls however can be given a lick of paint as it is easy to change and will add some personality to the kitchen. While white and black kitchens never go out of fashion the warmer natural colours are making a comeback.

The Industrial Look

The industrial look was one of the season's biggest trends. Exposed brick adds warmth, charm and a sense of nostalgia to the kitchen. Use in combination with stainless steel and concrete colours (or the real thing ) to create a contemporary look.

This kitchen features Caesarstone worktops. The worktops are one of the most important decisions to make when doing your kitchen. Wood, stone and steel are all on trend right now. Your selection will depend on the look you want to achieve and your budget. Beware of dark surfaces which absorb a lot of natural light.

Deep Colours

Deeper colours add personality and atmosphere and while warm terra cottas and orange tones stimulate the appetite and conversation, blue and green are growing in popularity.

When choosing a colour for your kitchen, be sure to take into account the lighting and atmosphere you want to create. Don't be afraid of colour because it can give your kitchen that wow factor, and if you don't like it, it's easy enough to change.
