There are bushes, shrubs and also large patches with grass, Acacia thorn trees and dense riverine ticket.

Due to the dry climate, the area is well-known as a disease-free area for the breeding of game.

Rare game species which occurred historically in the area were Buffalo, Giraffe, Kudu, Zebra, Eland, Springbuck, Grey Rhebuck, Klipspringer, Cape Grysbok, Steenbok and Common Duiker which long ago roamed the area.
