The Chas Everitt Story The Beginnings The Chas Everitt International property group was the dream-child of founders Charles (Chas) and Tilla Everitt who started the company in 1980 and remain active in the Chas Everitt group and the real estate industry to this day. Chas Everitt Milestones Opening their first office in Randburg, Gauteng in 1980, Charles and Tilla Everitt founded what has over the years evolved in the Chas Everitt International Property Group, a true family business where ethics and values are an integral part of the company's DNA. In their words: "Our vision has always been to never stop caring about people and to never compromise our principles". In 1998, when Charles Everitt became Chairman, Berry Everitt was appointed Managing Director of the Chas Everitt International Property Group. In 2001, Berry Everitt was awarded the Property Professional Club's 'Young Lion' Award and followed this with being awarded an industry 'Mover and Shaker' award in 2003. During 2002, Chas Everitt relinquished their membership in an American Real Estate Group after having been members for a decade (during which for 8 out of those 10 years, Chas Everitt won every major international real estate award available to their Southern African operations) In 2003 leading real estate franchising figure, Barry Davies, joined the group as a partner and Chas Everitt entered the Southern African Franchising arena. In a short timeframe they were joined by a host of like-minded and experienced franchisees across SA, opening operations in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu Natal. In 2004, the only independent real estate awards programme, the Property Professional Club, awarded Charles Everitt the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award. In the same year Berry Everitt and Franchising CEO Barry Davies were also nominated as 2 of South Africa’s Leading Managers in the publication “South Africa’s Leading Managers”. Chas Everitt also launched their inaugural Chas Everitt International Convention model in Mauritius rewarding its top performers with International Conventions around the globe, a programme which to this day is the only one in the SA industry of its kind. In 2007 Chas Everitt were recognized as one of the Top 5 National Real Estate Agencies in South Africa in an independent survey by a leading business publication – after only 4 years of franchising. In 2008 the group grew into the Southern African Market when it opened its Lusaka Franchise in Zambia. During 2009 Chas Everitt launched an industry first - the innovative Chas Everitt Notebook© License model designed for niche markets and subsequently increasing the national brand footprint. During 2010 the group celebrated its 30th Anniversary and launched ChasCares, a broad range of community projects building on the successful Home Makeovers projects held in 2008 and 2009. In 2011 Chas Everitt invited one of the leading real estate trainers in the USA, Ed Hatch to SA to host personalised Chas Everitt training programmes for its Agents and Management across the country. Despite some of the worst and most trying economic times - the group continued to grow. As part of the groups Social Responsibility programme in 2012, the Chas Everitt 67 Minutes support programme for Mandela Day was successfully introduced with franchises from around the country participating and performing acts of charity. In 2012 Chas Everitt also signed up as a major sponsor for a world record breaking attempt within the Argus Cycle Tour with funds raised going to the "Give Me a Chance" foundation. Chas Everitt was also one of the leading sponsors of the inaugural NBM Sevens Rugby Tournament held in George in the Garden Route which drew top flight players from across the globe. In 2012 the Chas Everitt management team was also joined by well-respected industry figure and former ERA South Africa CEO, Gerhard Kotze, who now heads up the groups Franchise and License Sales. During 2013 the Group spread its footprint into the Northern Cape and Limpopo with offices opening in the likes of Phalaborwa, Hoedspruit, Polokwane and Upington. The group was also joined by established operators in Mpumalanga, Northwest and KZN with Witbank, Lydenburg, Vryburg, Potchefstroom, Kuruman, Simbithi and Zinkwazi were added to its “country” presence. The group also added a full blown residential rentals franchise model to its offering in 2013, the Chas Everitt Property Rentals Group. This specialised arm is run under the leadership of well-known KwaZulu Natal Rentals expert, Greg Harris who also converted his own operations (Lighthouse Property Group) to the Chas Everitt Brand. Chas Everitt Property Rentals operations are already up and running in 5 provinces. 2014 has seen further growth for the group in the Western Cape where Somerset West leading real estate agency Rose McFall Properties made the change to the Chas Everitt brand, as well as additional operations in Stellenbosch. The Northern Cape has also seen the the addition of Kimberley and Kuruman with Newcastle in KwaZulu Natal on line in mid 2014 as well. The Chas Everitt Property Rentals arm has also added seven new Chas Everitt Rentals Franchises to the fold across SA.
