Idyllic lifestyle estates can be found in Centurion East together with tree-lined roads. This contributes to the feeling of being in the country. The properties in this area vary in style, from the older Tuscan and French style homes, to the newer homes with a contemporary look.
Jan Smuts lived in Centurion East, and his former home is now a museum which hosts regular flea markets on its grounds. The Rietvlei nature reserve is a well-known place to visit over weekends, for game and wildlife viewing, as well as fishing.
This family-friendly neighbourhood is home to both English and Afrikaans schools such as Curro Thatchfield Private School and Hoerskool Centurion. The Irene Diary Farm is must for families, where locals refill their old gallon buckets at the dairy shop which sells certified fresh raw milk, produced right on the farm. There is a farmyard where kids can be entertained for hours, while adults can enjoy a freshly made breakfast or lunch at the Barn restaurant, in one of the original farm barns.
