For the birdwatching community this reserve offers a rich diversity of birdlife. The goals of the reserve are to maintain and improve the reserve to maintain a healthy wildlife population while working within the guidelines as set out by Nature Conservation. The reserve is bounded by the Elands River and has a mix of sweet and sour veld. The reserve and the game, owned by the landowners within the reserve are managed by a voluntary association. Benefits associated with being a member of the association include the freedom to traverse the entire reserve.
