Top lifestyle estates in Pretoria East

Demand continues unabated for well-priced properties in Pretoria East’s lifestyle estates.

Estate living is becoming increasingly popular with many buyers, especially those seeking a secure and family-oriented lifestyle, say Dean and Donovan Lindique, Pam Golding Properties Pretoria East area specialists.

“One of the main reasons for buying into estates is the 24-hour security with access control that creates a safe environment in which to raise children. Buyers also want to have a sense of community, and access to amenities such as tennis courts, squash courts, swimming pools, parks and club house facilities.” Popular estates include Boardwalk Manor, Boardwalk Meander, The Wilds Security Estate, Woodhill Residential Estate and Country Club and Woodlands Lifestyle Estates. “Entry level prices start from R1 million, and can reach up to R20 million for luxury designer homes,” say the Lindiques

Prices at Boardwalk Manor and Boardwalk Meander start from R1.2 million to R11 million, while properties at Woodlands Lifestyle Estate range from R2.5 million to R7 million.

According to the agents, Boardwalk Manor has a total of 170 homes and features beautiful gardens, walkways and a children’s play area. It also has an attractive rose and lemon garden, and the Tweefontein Spruit runs through the estate, adding to the serene natural setting. The Boardwalk Meander Estate offers a secure environment with a catch-and-release dam. At the Woodlands Lifestyle Estate, residents have access to the estate library, the clubhouse and a gym, as well as magnificent walkways, and a spacious play area for children.

Prices at the Woodhill Residential Estate and Country Club start from R1.9 million and can reach up to R20 million for designer homes. In this estate, 60% of homeowners have owned their properties for 11 years or more – an unusually stable homeowner population as the norm is around 50%. Buyers in this estate have access to the popular 18-hole Peter Matkovich golf course, as well as a range of amenities including tennis and squash courts and a safe, well-allocated play area for children. Residents are able to book the various venues available at the clubhouse for private functions. Furthermore, in addition, the estate offers direct access to Woodhill College which caters for Grade RRR to Grade 12.

Of these estates, say the agents, The Wilds Security Estate is the most popular, and here, homes range from R1 million to R7 million. The estate offers state-of-the-art security, is very family oriented with a number of amenities such as a swimming pool, tennis court, clubhouse, bomas and braai areas. Most of the homes within this estate are energy efficient, and some are able to operate off the grid.

“There are a variety of modern homes to choose from – both sectional title units and freestanding properties, and due to high demand, especially in The Wilds Security Estate, properties within these estates offer exceptional investment opportunities for buyers,” say the agents.

Another drawcard of these estates is their central location close to major roads, with a number of medical facilities such as Intercare Hazeldean, Intercare Silver Lakes and NetCare Pretoria East Hospital in the area. Nearby shopping centres include the Boulevard Mall, DisChem Centre, Glen Village, Olympus Village, Parkview, Woodhill Park Centre and Woodlands Boulevard. Residents also have a choice of excellent schools, including the American International School of Johannesburg (Pretoria Campus), Bronberg Akademie, Doxa Deo Christian School, Eastside Primary School, Klein Wonderwerkies Speel Skool, Maragon School Olympus, Pure Hope School and Woodhill College.

Pretoria East
Accessible escape from the city
Pretoria East offers a tranquil escape for those that work in the city. The leafy streets and well established gardens give the area a sedate, village-like feel. Everything is close-by and residents don't have to go far for shopping or recreation. It's a popular suburb, largely due to the fact that it's easily accessible from major highways - the N1 and the N4. This neighbourhood attracts a good mixture of young professionals and young families, with kid-friendly activities widely available. There are large, open spaces in this area, allowing for big gardens and freestanding houses. However, this area has many townhouses, clusters and security estates as well.
