Area and property guide to Lynnwood Manor

Established as one of the first suburbs on the eastern boundary of Pretoria in the 1960s, Lynnwood Manor today boasts all the characteristics of a well-established, mature neighbourhood that has also kept pace with 21st century developments.

Over the years, new neighbourhood developments east and southwards pushed Lynnwood Manor into the centre of a group of suburbs now known as the Old East. This resulted in the suburb finding itself in a prime spot, central to the myriad amenities the area and its surrounds have on offer. On top of that is Lynnwood Manor’s location adjacent to the N1 and within close proximity of the N4, the city centre and other main roads and public transportation facilities in the area.

The residential area with its many trees, beautifully maintained sidewalks and green gardens as well as the Moreleta Spruit meandering along as its eastern border has a serene and peaceful look and feel.

This sought-after, middle-to-high-income neighbourhood comprises a variety of homes ranging from free-standing “golden oldies” on huge stands and large modern family homes in estates, to compact townhouses and contemporary lock-up-and-go apartments. There are properties in mint condition and, if you do your homework well, you will find some a little less costly and ready to be renovated to perfection. Vacant land varying in size and purpose and commercial property (to rent or buy) is also available.

Lynnwood Manor and the neighbouring Lynnwood suburbs are known for their caring and involved communities. Several community initiatives working in the interests of the neighbourhood and its residents have also been established. “Security is top of the priority list and both Lynnwood Manor Estate and Lynnwood Manor Village have controlled access and outstanding neighbourhood watches,” says Mathilda Ferreira, resident and estate agent.

What do you love about the area?

I love Lynnwood Manor’s central location and convenient proximity to Lynnwood Bridge centre, Pretoria National Botanical Garden, Menlyn Maine and the University of Pretoria. The suburb’s easy access from the N1 and N4 freeways is also a major attraction. There are very good schools close by; for example, St Alban’s College and St Paulus Pre-Primary and Primary School. Regardless of all these developments and conveniences, it is a leafy suburb with green urban areas and, most important of all, peaceful surroundings. The area is boomed-off and one will find people of all ages living in Lynnwood Manor.

What are the best things about the area for families?

This suburb is one of the most established and most popular suburbs in the Old East of Pretoria to live in. Its favourable location provides excellent access to many top public and private schools, hospitals and comprehensive shopping facilities like Glenfair Boulevard, Lynnwood Bridge mall, Menlyn and the new Menlyn Maine – ideal for families to spend some time together. Security is top of the priority list and families can often be seen walking their dogs, jogging or just relaxing in our neighbourhood. Share the joys of family life and a good investment with your family in Lynnwood Manor.

Pretoria East
Accessible escape from the city
Pretoria East offers a tranquil escape for those that work in the city. The leafy streets and well established gardens give the area a sedate, village-like feel. Everything is close-by and residents don't have to go far for shopping or recreation. It's a popular suburb, largely due to the fact that it's easily accessible from major highways - the N1 and the N4. This neighbourhood attracts a good mixture of young professionals and young families, with kid-friendly activities widely available. There are large, open spaces in this area, allowing for big gardens and freestanding houses. However, this area has many townhouses, clusters and security estates as well.
