Shikwari Game Farm. This magnificent, independent plains-game farm has two different lodge experiences on offer which can comfortably accommodation 24. It lies in close proximity to the Panorama route, the Kruger National Park and many other local tourist attractions. The main area of the lodge, where everything happens, plays host to a cellar, a fully licenced bar, a lounge area, a dining room, a catering kitchen and guest toilets. The spacious, covered veranda looks out onto the magnificent Northern Drakensberg and a sparkling pool, as well as an open air boma which comes to life at night and beckons guests to gaze in awe at the African night sky.
The main lodge leads off to 6 secluded, en-suite rooms with private verandas, which one accesses via pathways which meander around trees and natural bush. In addition, a family of 4 can be accommodated in a separate 2 bedroomed unit. A one bedroomed private home is tucked away from other accommodation and can be incorporated into the lodge if one wishes, as well as a separate 2-bedroomed cottage, which could also be used to house a management couple.
A charming bush camp is located a little way from the main lodge and is a perfect gathering place for family and group get-togethers. It consists of 4 rondawels, a kitchen and living area with its own pool and boma area.
The farm is home to Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Kudu, Impala, Nyala, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Duiker, Ostrich and a vast number of bird species.
Nearby tourist attractions include the Panorama Route and Graskop Gorge Lift, Jessica, the World-Famous Hippo and Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. It is a short drive to the famous Kruger National Park, where the big five reside. Blyde River Canyon is close by and one can take a boat trip on the dam in the canyon to see the falls, as well as crocodile and hippo. There are also the various walks and hikes in the area. The Panorama route is the higher area of the Blyde River Canyon and is consequently colder in winter. Here one can visit Lisbon Falls, Berlin Falls, Three Rondavels, The View, Gods Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes, Mac Mac Falls & Pools. These are just a few activities that are on offer in the area. In addition, there is also a cultural village to visit, elephant interaction experiences, Magoebaskloof Canopy Tour, Moholoholo Wildlife Rehab Centre and Hoedspruit Endangered Wildlife & Cheetah Research Centre.
